Zendaya Plans on ‘Disappearing for a Little Bit’ After A Big 2026

Both Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are going to be everywhere in 2026, as the A-list duo are set to co-star in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, and Kristoffer Borgli’s The Drama, which opens on April 3. On top of that, though, Zendaya also has season 3 of Euphoria coming in just a few weeks and Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July.

“I hope people don’t get sick of me,” she confessed during the Fandango Big Ticket interview for The Drama. Throwing up deuces, she revealed, “After this, I’m disappearing for a little bit. I’m going into hiding for just a little bit.”

Zendaya and Pattinson joined Mamoudou Athie and Alana Haim for a conversation with RT Awards Editor Jacqueline Coley about their new film, which stars Zendaya as a bookstore clerk named Emma who’s about to marry Charlie, a museum director from London played by Pattinson. Athie and Haim play the couple’s friends Mike and Rachel, who witness their crumbling romance: “This is really like an emotional abusive relationship,” Athie explains. “When he [Mike] hears the news, he’s like, ‘I know how she’s [Rachel] going to react. And it’s going to be bad for ME.'”

The Drama is a dark comedy, but Zendaya and Pattinson were surprised to find themselves utilizing the stunt work they learned from being in their respective blockbuster comic book films — not because of any explosive action scenes, but instead for a risky scene involving… pantsing. “That was actually really complicated, and also quite dangerous,” Pattinson explains. “She [Zendaya] had a stunt coordinator.” If only we all could have a stunt coordinator for our pantsing shenanigans.

Diving into the preparation for playing her character, Zendaya explained, “I think our job in general is to make these people feel real, and to also empathize with them and to humanize them in the best way that we can. Sometimes […] It’s nice to vent to somebody about your character, and be like, ‘Why the hell did they do that?'”

The feeling’s mutual, Zendaya! For years, we’ve been asking ourselves ‘Why the hell did they do that?’ anytime we saw the versatile actress embody one of her many memorable characters, from Rue’s drug-fueled antics in Euphoria to MJ’s snarky anarchism in the Spider-Man movies to Tashi’s perverse manipulation in Challengers. Zendaya has made a career of humanizing characters that make questionable decisions, and The Drama continues this trend.
