Everything pre-Midnight Sun (2025) sounded like a nondescript artist in the veins of Ava Max, Bebe Rexha, and even Dua Lipa’s debut era (but she has found her sonic identity with Future Nostalgia). Zara shines when she does her singles (like Lush Life, which went viral). Now, she did find her aesthetic identity with Midnight Sun. However, the album really isn’t that cohesive. Pretty Ugly and Midnight Sun (song) sound like they should be on different albums. Crush sounds like a 2016 reject. All the album tracks on Midnight Sun were better than any album track from her previous albums. However, I’m getting brave when I speak this when I say that even Addison Rae (yes, that Addison) had a better album when comparing it to Midnight Sun by a bit.
Also, the Stateside remix with PinkPantheress is better than anything from Midnight Sun
