I live in Oregon, and most people here crash TF OUT when you pronounce our state any way besides "ore-uh-gihn" and I used to be one of those people. But now I've been thinking, and guys, it really doesn't matter lol. If you want to pronounce Oregon as "Ory-gone" then knock yourself out! I don't even blame you because it makes more phonetic sense! In the same vein, I should be allowed to pronounce "Camas" as "Came-iss" instead of "Cam-iss" because you know EXACTLY what I mean regardless.
I'd wager that even if you pronounce any word in any language SO unfortunately that it sounds like a profanity but with enough context for the intended meaning to come through, it might be a bit funny, but there's no real harm done there.
