I am definitely not a fan of voice messages and find them to essentially not respect the recipient's time as they are generally more of a stream of thought than a succinct well crafted message that gets right to the point. You are stuck going through them, and if key information is burried in there it's a pain to locate and extract the info. thankfully we can 1.5x or 2x voice messages nowadays.
The opinion is that WhatsApp and other messaging platforms need to set up a new setting where one can disable the option to receive voice messages if one so desires.
if I want to hear you blabbering on about every little thing and hear you interact with people in the street between sentences we can simply have a regular call.
As it is, the people who don't enjoy receiving voice messages have no tools to fight off the people who always send voice messages. Asking them not to do so doesn't work, they'll have a drink and say it was too much effort to type (yes, that's the point).
