We Should Stop Asking People "How Are You?" as a Greeting

Unless you're asking somebody in earnest, this pointless greeting/opener is just a waste of time and can even make interactions awkward, especially if people are in a hurry. We could just say "hi" or even just jump straight into talking business or whatever, but instead it's:

"how are you?"
"good u"
"good.... so listen I wanted to ask you about..."

It's pointless. Neither party actuall cares how the other is doing, and 99.9999% of the time both people will just say "good," regardless of how they're doing. This formality can easily just be replaced with "hello" and neither party will be worse off for it.
