By far the hardest part of high school for me was trudging through all the classes I couldn’t care less about. The only subject I actually enjoyed was math, which I found fun, and thus easy. Writing essays on books I didn’t care about, even if technically easier, took far more effort and willpower than any math assignment or exam.
In university, on the other hand, I could actually pick classes I liked and enjoyed. Sure GEs sucked, but there’s an end to them, and the vast majority of classes I took, especially in upper-division, were in the subject I actually cares about. Since I enjoyed it, the more technically difficult work was mentally much easier as I didn’t have to scrounge up willpower to trudge through most of my assignments.
