Brace yourself for a controversial opinion. The United States has a transportation crisis. On its own that doesn’t sound too controversial. But I have a 3 step program that would shake the industry to its core and ruffle many feathers.
Just my thoughts, what do you think?

Allow Chinese cars into the United States at a 0-30 percent tariff. This would cause unprecedented competition driving the cost down.
Bust up the UAW. I should preface this by saying I have worked for 2 UAW shops making parts for many different models and they are useless. The UAW has been a leech on the auto industry for a long time. Now they are making upwards to 50 an hour at assembly shops clicking in completed parts and assembling the cars with 0 effort all while the shops who actually do the dirty work make 19 an hour. The UAW is entirely performative and prioritize the assembly shops who have work 10 times easier than the factories who create the parts they click in.
Cap the cost of a passenger vehicle at 80,000 dollars. There is 0 reason that a f-250 platinum should even exist. The countless electronic and software requiring them to work will be bugged and beyond repair within 10 years.
