The Nolan Batman trilogy is a terrible depiction of Batman and the majority of the characters in them

Outside of Gary Oldman's depiction of Gordon nearly every character feels like a person from Heat or something in a comic book costume. Bale does a fine job as Bruce for Begins but the character pretty quickly fades into the background to do cool action scenes and doesn't really have an arc that resembles anything a traditional Batman story would tell. Gotham itself also severely lacks any character or reason to exist as a setting for the most part that just any big city wouldn't fill. I do think the movies themselves are very well made and acted for the most part, and TDK is a brilliant movie with wonderful performances from Heath, Oldman, and Eckhart, but I don't think the Batman skin over the movies is anything besides an aesthetic and marketing tool in retrospect
