I’ve had several experiences regarding the topic of sharing that end up in arguments. It’s a phenomenon I’ve noticed especially with very traditional people, they have a distorted concept of what sharing means. For them, it’s like, 'if there’s someone around while you’re eating your chips, it’s mandatory that you share some with them,' which I consider very ignorant.

I think it’s simpler than that: if I want to share, I do; if I don’t want to, my decision should be respected, applied to everyone. Also, it’s quite funny that I’ve heard people call you envious for not wanting to share, which is also a misuse of the concept. Someone who is envious is a person who desires what others have and becomes frustrated with it.

I’ve also heard that they extrapolate that specific decision to a moral plane as a form of guilt-tripping, saying things like, 'if you’re like this now, in the future you’ll be selfish,' or 'you won’t help us in delicate situations,' which is totally illogical because the moral standards in both situations are not the same
