Sports Journalist Diana Russini shouldn’t have lost her job even if she did have an affair with that coach.

I’m a little stunned how many people are celebrating her resignation from The Athletic publication and generally how negative people have been towards her since the alleged affair details and pictures came out. If she cheated on her husband and Mike Vrabel cheated on his wife I really couldn’t care less and if she used that to get better information, so be it.

The fact is she did get good information and I found her likable on TV/radio/print. There’s not many in that line of work that I can say that about so if she’s legitimately going to be ousted from the industry I think we all kinda lost out in the process.

Edit: I hear everyone’s statements about journalistic integrity and trading sex for access and admittedly, if that’s what she was doing then yes, consequences are warranted. What I haven’t seen in all this is a smoking gun of a story that couldn’t have come any other way than from Vrabel and his inside knowledge. Not saying it’s not out there but I haven’t seen it. My read is this was him and her cheating on their respective families, which is gross, but done for their own personal reasons. She possibly benefited professionally, but that’s not a definitively proven fact. If that proof comes forth I would change my unpopular opinion. Until then the pearl-clutching about “journalistic integrity” for the sports pages rings a little bit hollow.
