Passport, bank account, contracts, credit cards all require signatures. When I sign something, I can't even make my own signature look the same, but an artist or half decent forger could probably replicate it.
The fingerprint should replace all of these as a way of identifying yourself and showing agreement. E.g. signing a contract, you put a thumb print at the bottom along with your name. This could then be proven or disproven in court if needed.
