People are too quick to call every bad app update, new design feature, confusing website redesign, or annoying UI change “enshittification.”
Of course, some companies make products worse on purpose to squeeze more money out of users, advertisers, sellers, or creators. More ads, worse algorithms, paywalled features, dark patterns, all of that exists.
But people underestimate a simpler explanation: a lot of designers and product teams are just not very good.
