Life has its own set of challenges today and yes things are expensive, but every generation, people have complained about the price of things. I remember my grandmother balking at the price of a $4 movie ticket when I was a kid.

Humans had lower life expectancy up until a short while ago. Life was uncomfortable. There was lots of toiling in the fields. When people talk about housing affordability and how you used to be able to buy a house on a single income, they're laser focussed on a very small time frame to make their point. We need to look further back.
