New York City and Long Island should be in New Jersey, not New York State

NYC being in NY makes no sense culturally or geographically. The city has almost nothing in common with the rest of the state. Go 2 hours upstate from the Bronx and you’ll feel like you’re in a completely different part of the country. Meanwhile New Jersey is almost a perfect cultural fit, especially since it contains a large portion of the NYC metro area. Furthermore, looking at a map you can clearly tell that New Jersey’s borders are meant to extend to Connecticut’s. You also have to go out of state to get from NYC/LI to some parts of upstate. NYC is only in NY because that’s just how it was like 300 years ago but that really makes no sense tbh. NYS is basically just a gerrymandered state at this point.

I’m also from Long Island so I have some knowledge on this.
