New houses looking the same is a tone-deaf criticism during a housing crisis

A huge number of people are stuck in a perpetual renting or living with parents stage, with the price of houses going up faster than wages.

If someone has been scraping together money for years to try and get on the housing ladder, to finally get their own space, whether or not many other houses look similar to their's is the furthest thing from their mind.

You don't know how good you have it if you are in a position to reject houses because they aren't unique or don't have enough character.

EDIT: To clarify, I mean criticising someone else's house because it's a generic new build is tone-deaf, given what's currently readily available/affordable. If you don't want to buy one personally, that's completely fine.
