Might doesn’t always make right. But it does keep people in check.

Essentially what the title says.

I am so sick of how so much, the internet especially, is there that essentially allows people to act like jackasses and assholes and they face absolutely zero consequences. Someone’s rude to you or decides to make a full on show of publicly disrespecting you or humiliating you? Well you better grit your teeth because you can’t slap the taste out of their mouth for it because while there are plenty of laws that allow such kind of harassment, trying to give them any form of consequences is complete illegal.

Best example I have is I had this one coworker who would absolutely go about everyday taunting, harassing, and even just straight up verbally abusing anyone in the office, the women especially. People tried for the life of them to report him to HR but you know what we were told? “It’s just words?” “Have you tried ignoring him?” “Just avoid him and he’ll eventually leave you alone?” Yada, yada; the usual shit people tell you when they don’t think the can do anything or are actually too fucking lazy too.

And that’s honestly what I hear is STILL the usual despite all the public reception people try to put up of “Zero tolerance policy on harassment” or whatever type shit. Someone is protected by so much legality to just be assholes and they potentially face zero consequence. But you try to set them straight? Here comes your ow consequences. Because when I finally had enough of the guy and threatened physical harm to him after I was done with his shit, boy I got suspended from work so quick. And what happened to him? Nothing. Not a thing.

And then people wonder why sometimes people just have enough and eventually snap. Then we potentially get something SO MUCH WORSE than a quick scrap between people.

I don’t really know if the solution would be for more places to have mutual combat laws like Texas does or what. But I swear it feels like sometimes we need to make more of a culture around “Yeah you have the freedom of speech, but the other person if free to deliver some consequences.”

And I swear, the only people I ever hear that are vehemently against this opinion of mine are generally the people that do the verbal harassing/abuse or are the enablers who don’t want to deal with the paperwork from such actions being taken. People should be allowed to stand up for themselves without fear of repercussions because in today’s society of “They’re just words” verbal abuse/harassment seem perfectly find but physical consequences are not.
