Introvert does not mean quiet, and extrovert does not mean filling silence

I feel like people oftentimes mix up the true meaning of extrovert and introvert. It's stereotyped as "extrovert is someone who can just fill silence" and "introvert is quiet."

Extrovert means someone thrives off of social interaction. This person can be on the quiet side but enjoys interacting with people frequently because the interaction gives them energy. These interactions can be in short bursts.

Introverts can be people who just talk out loud about themselves, like talking AT people, but not actually interact. I've known a handful of people who don't actually care or think about the person next to them, and don't actually interact with people. They simply think about themselves and fill silence with their voice. But there is rarely interaction.

Extrovert does not mean loud or talkative. It's about gaining energy from social interactions.
