I was born poor. I grew up poor. And I’ve remained poor for my entire adult life. Except a few weeks ago things started to really turn around for me since I landed this chill job a small local vineyard and finally making more than scraps each check.
Today was the first wedding I worked there and it was a giant one. Legit like 300+ people were here. I didn’t realize, but sometimes wedding parties can check off if the working staff is allowed to eat the catering after a certain time.
I got to eat a plate with a giant steak, jumbo shrimp, and the freshest broccoli and carrots I’ve ever had. Hands down this has been the best food I’ve ever eaten in my life. Never been in a situation where I could ever remotely eat this good.
As I was quietly eating and people watching, I realized I was accidentally swaying to the music. I’m making the most I’ve ever made before eating the best meal I’ve ever dreamt of and for the first time in years I felt a wave of hope and happiness.
