This is a bit of a topic of conversation for a few of my interests (professional wrestling, specifically WWE, esports, golf etc.) as more companies and personalities begin to take money from Saudi Arabia to run events and receive huge amounts of backlash, but I've noticed a trend of people pretending like what Saudi Arabia does is any different than, like, the NFL actively running ads and propaganda for the US government all the time or the fact we're hosting the World Cup AND Olympics in the next two years. Now, if you want to argue Saudi Arabia is drastically more "evil" than the US, feel free, but pretending like we as Americans are somehow immune to the same level of sportswashing is wild to me. We absolutely sportswash to the same or even greater level as SA, and now we're (again) committing war crimes in the Middle East. If you were really against sportswashing, you'd drop every sporting and entertainment event that takes any money from the US government tomorrow.
