When I was a kid, I would watch shows and the show would use the characters appearance to help tell a story. All old Disney villains used to look gangly, sickly skin, grubby (Cruella Deville, Hades, Evil witch, Etc). We would look at them and go "Well yep, definitely evil".

Now all Disney villains are attractive and indistinguishable from the protagonists. You don't have unattractive Disney villains (hell, even any unattractive characters) anymore.

Aunt May from the Raimi Spiderman files looked like an Aunt. From a glance she looked kind, gentle and like a mothering figure. Now aunt may is just hot.

Snape from HP was designed to have greasy hair, look skinny. and gangly, he gave off the "Ew, he's definitely evil" vibe, only to be subverted in every book/film, even up until the end.

Even roles where attractiveness isn't a factor at all, the characters are just hot and jacked as fuck, for no reason. What happened to the normal looking actors.
