This is an unpopular opinion because I’m yet to see any major studio take this approach
So many game studios nowadays consider “bullet sponges” an appropriate compromise for increasing the difficulty in video games. I have searched many times online, and no one seems to share my sentiment that; bullet sponge≠challenging.
What a REAL hard mode should do is weaken the player whilst leaving the enemies health the same, that way SKILLED PLAYERS are rewarded for their accuracy and not taking damage. The challenge is in not getting hit and hitting your shots, rather than the aforementioned challenge IN ADDITION TO enemies taking forever to die.
Headshots should also be one hit kills no matter the context. Developers; please reward skilled players.
We should’ve never doubted Daikatana, we’re sorry, John Romero.
