Gooning to a character doesn't make you any more or less of a fan of something.

I've seen this in mostly anime communities of people bashing on others who goon or don't goon to a character. Calling them tourist/larps for their opinion. From my experience at least, I haven't really found myself having any developed connection to any character I've gooned to before (but might be different for others idk I'm just one guy). I've gooned to characters that I love or find interesting outside sexually. But on the opposite side some people just don't like the goon content of something no matter how knowledgeable of the media they consumed. And you're not a "truer" fan just because you don't goon to the character(s). And that's okay both ways
