Listening to a single song from an album is like watching a single scene from a movie. The album was intentionally designed to be an entire message and you’re just taking one small part out of context
Many albums are intentionally designed a specific way or are about a specific subject. I bought one album by the band maximum the hormone where the premise was about writing songs that were supposed to be written like they were still in high school, so it has this vibe of being very silly and unserious. When you understand that context, the whole album is way more interesting to listen to
I miss the days of going to a music store and getting an album and listening to it straight through. There’s something much more interesting when you experience an entire album
