Most (decent) people know it’s not cool to yell or scold the agent helping you. You’re mad at the company, not them.

But many don’t realize it’s also not cool to cry or get emotional with an agent trying to help you.

Obviously I’m not saying this in a “shame on you” sort of way, I’m just saying it’s super uncomfortable and disruptive to agents trying to fix your concern if while they’re working on it you keep retelling them the story of how the problem happened and how sad you are about it.

If you are about to cry just say “sorry I need a moment, hold on, brb” then set the phone down or, if in person, turn away or excuse yourself for a a moment to compose yourself.

Again this is not meant to shame people for feeling their emotions, just don’t dump them onto the minimum wage workers. They are just doing their jobs and are trying to help.
