Diablo 2 is horribly balanced

Nostalgic fans always hold it up as the gold standard of ARPG games, but I've replayed it recently and it doesn't hold up as well as I've remembered.

* bad stat system

There's 4 stats, but most builds only put points into vitality.

Just the minimum strength and dexterity to wear their equipment, and never any points in energy even as a mage build.

* melee builds are just worse

Mage builds don't need to put points into dexterity as their spells always hit, but if you want to be able to hit something with a melee character you need to level up your dexterity.

Melee characters are also much more dependent on weapons with high damage, plus effects like Crushing Blow and Deadly Strike

For a good mage starter build it's as easy as using the Spirit Runeword in a sword and a shield

* runewords made most uniques and sets obsolete

There's hundreds of unique weapons and armors, plus plenty of armor sets.

But instead of being happy that you finally found them you are most often let down by the fact that they are outclassed by Runewords that are easier to get

And basically every build except for Sorcs want Enigma, but despite being the only good source for Teleport it requires 2 high runes. This skill should be more accessible.

* synergies prevent hybrid builds

Apparently there's huge build variety, but it's actually just like 3 different good attacks per character that require 20 points in that skill plus an additional 60 points in the 3 synergy skills

The synergy skills are also often something useless that you only level up to make your main skill better

Like you can have extremely high Fire damage, but you can not have good Fire and Lightning damage

* immunities are unbalanced

As soon as you enter Hell difficulty every enemy is immune to some element, but like I've mentioned in the previous point you have to focus on one element if you want to deal enough damage

So now as a solo player you can't do anything against these enemies until you find a Sunder charm, but that's now one of the rarest and hardest to get items despite being so essential.

* warlock is entirely unbalanced

There's now a new class that's miles better than the others.

Most of the previous points don't even apply to him.

He can utilize many of the useless unique weapons as he can one-hand two-handed weapons. Even better he doesn't use up their durability so he can use ethereal versions.

His synergies only require two other skills and thoss are relevant skills as well.

He deals magic damage which has the least amount of immune enemies.

He's a better summoner than the necromancer which should be the actual summoner class.

He's better at hitting enemies with weapons than the barbarian.
