Concerts are often too loud to be enjoyable

Now, I LOVE a good concert, don’t get me wrong, and I love loud music. Just ask my car’s stereo system. But when the volume is TOO loud, it’s just not a good time.

For instance, I just saw Lady Gaga in concert. INCREDIBLE show. But with her voice having such range, the higher frequencies can be so piercing that you don’t have the ability to hear the lower frequencies/full range of her voice or appreciate all the instruments.

And let’s be honest — no one enjoys wearing earplugs. They’re uncomfortable, they stick out like a sore thumb, and they dampen the music quality, even high-fidelity ones.

Concerts should be mixed to sound like the studio recordings, just better, and be loud enough for a good time but not so loud that you’re drowning in stimuli.
