I really believe that most people that smoke cigars to celebrate something do it just because they feel like they should do it, not because they are enjoying them. I've smoked cheap cigars, expensive cigars, skinny, fat, etc. They all smell like ass and there's no real pleasure other than conversing with friends while smoking, which could easily be done without the cigars.
As I got older I just stopped honoring the tradition, opting out, and I've had friends and acquaintances tell me privately that they totally agree. We really need a new celebration tradition that is enjoyable and doesn't stink.
