The reason that the physical quality of products is decaying is that production would be unable to keep up with the demand if higher quality products were being produced.
The reason that the quality of food is decaying is that factories are not discarding lower-quality pieces of food that they would have in the past and it's making it into the food chain.
The reason that there's nowhere free to hang out is that real estate is too expensive.
The reason that the quality of professional services is decaying (air traffic control, inspection quality of various products, policing, sanitation, experiences like concerts and other forms of entertainment) is that no one is being paid enough in take-home pay to afford to live leading to higher stress, lower quality work, and less care for the job they do.
In all cases, these things are ultimately determined by billionaires who own the companies that own the materials and that pay the people. Their wealth growing takes away from everyone underneath them because when you get big enough, planet earth is just one big closed economy with inputs and outputs going to the same place.
