Saying both sides are correct is just soft virtual signaling

When people have opposing views, there's always that one person who jumps in trying to stay neutral by saying both sides are equal. Sometimes that's valid, but most of the time it just feels like they're inserting themselves without adding anything meaningful.

For example, would be something like this. Two people are debating whether a friend was wrong for canceling plans last minute. One says it was disrespectful, the other says things happen and it's not a big deal. Then someone jumps in and says, "I see both sides, everyone's feelings are valid. All it does is cause disconnect in the conversation
