Long rests between sets at the gym is okay.

It's okay to take long rest periods of 2-5 minutes between each lift and people need to stop badgering those who do. Either work in with that person taking longer rests or find a different piece of equipment.

Studies show that for strength training or hypertrophy, longer breaks are better. Short breaks are better for endurance, cardiovascular and circuit training.
