Astronauts today are a modern day equivalent to Medieval Knights more so than Special Forces Operators.

I first thought Special Forces operator would be equivalent but ended up concluding that astronauts are a better fit. Maybe in the literal sense, Special Forces would be a better fit because new recruits train and deploy the more similarly in a squire to knight process compared to an Astronaut; But Astronauts symbolizes an honor code better with its armor and uniform compared to a special forces operator. One can argue that armor is designed to protect against adversaries. But isn’t the harsh environment of space itself an adversary? This goes back to the literal argument. I think what the image of what the profession portrays is what ultimately defines equivalency in this case instead of the literal accuracy of it.
